Starting the 2024-25 Academic Year–Dates

Dear Parents,

Many of you will be aware of a recent Ministry of Education announcement regarding the start of the 2024-25 academic year for students. As a result of this announcement, please be advised that the first day of school for students will be Sunday, September 8th. Please take note of your child’s first day of school as per our annual phase-in processes:

Sunday 8th September, first day for:

American School: Pre-School & Pre-K Group 1 / Grades 1-3, 6, 11 & 12

British School: FS1 & FS2 Group 1 / Years 2-4, Years 9-12

 

Monday 9th September, first day for:

American School: Pre-School & Pre-K Group 2 / Kindergarten, Grades 4-5 & 7-10.

British School: FS1 & FS2 Group 2 / Years 1, 5-8, 13

Orientations for parents and/or students will be scheduled between September 3-5th,depending on your child’s school division. Please factor this into your planning so that you are able to attend any sessions relevant to your child(ren). You will receive further communication over the coming weeks via divisional offices. Class placement information will be sent to parents/students on September 2nd.

Eid Holiday / Autism Awareness

Dear Parents,

Please be advised that as per recent governmental announcements, the school will observe Eid holiday from 9th-14th April. School will be closed during these days with students returning to school on Monday, 15th April.

It is important for your child to attend school on Sunday and Monday, April 7th and 8th to ensure continuity of his/her learning and we appreciate parent support in ensuring students are in attendance. Please also be reminded that Monday, April 8th will follow a Thursday Week A teaching schedule. Students are also encouraged to wear a blue shirt on Monday, April 8th in support of El Alsson’s Autism Awareness initiative.

Ramadan Hours Parent Communication

Dear Parents,

As Ramadan approaches we know that many of you will have questions about school timings during Ramadan. Please be advised that beginning Monday 11th March, the school day will be adjusted with lessons ending at 1:50 for students in G1-12/Yr2-13. The school day for students in PS/PK/K and FS1/FS2/Y1 will end at 1:30. School will start at the same time, 7:50, during Ramadan.

Further information about specific lesson arrangements for the school day for all grades/years will be sent to you via divisional offices in the coming days.
