Winter Clothes Drive

Dear parents,
Over the past couple of years we have been running the Winter Clothes Drive which has been hugely successful and greatly appreciated by our matrons and workers. We were overwhelmed with the incredible level of generosity in your donations and we wish to continue this initiative. Our students thoroughly enjoyed volunteering their time and effort to give back to their community and it was a significant learning experience for them to further develop their sense of social responsibility.

As of Sunday the 6th of November, we will start collecting clothes donations. We kindly ask that you ensure the donations you make are in good condition without any stains, rips, broken zippers, etc. Please drop off your donations to your child’s designated administrative office (EC/ES American Office, MHS American Office, Primary British Office, Secondary British Office).

The clothes distribution will be held on Thursday the 8th of December.

This is a school-wide project where staff and students will be collaborating together from both the British and American School. We would like to invite parents who are interested in volunteering to support to sign up HERE to specify your availability.

We look forward to another successful Winter Clothes Drive!

El Alsson School

Alsson Elkheir

El Alsson British and American International School in New Giza would like to announce the Alsson Kheir initiative 2022.

We are always very impressed with the generosity and care that our families demonstrate during Ramadan. This is a tradition we would like to continue and develop. Last year we gave out 350 boxes and prepared Iftar for 150 orphans. We are looking forward to giving out more boxes this year.

As a school, we believe not only that charity and community service begins at home, but also that children benefit from giving of their time and efforts.

With Ramadan approaching, we invite students to make voluntary donations to support Alsson ElKheir this Ramadan. Funds collected will be used to support activities that students will participate in including:

  • packing and distributing whole-sale dry goods to create Ramadan boxes to support our school-sponsored families, orphanages as well as support staff.
  • sponsoring an iftarfor children in need who we support as a school community.
  • providing additional material needs to local orphanages and families in need as we are able

Children of all ages, across the schools, will have the opportunity to work together to organize, pack and distribute items, while also learning the importance of teamwork and the spirit of giving. Students will be guided and supported in this process through our teachers and leadership teams.

A donation of 300 LE or more if you wish will allow us to make other families happy.

Please send your donations to the class teacher / homeroom / or relevant office in a sealed and labelled envelope by the   20th of February. The sooner your contribution is received, the faster we proceed.

Wishing you all a Ramadan Kareem.

Winter Drive

Dear parents,

As the temperatures start to drop and winter approaches, we wish to turn our attention to the vital members of our school community  who may lack some essentials to help them get through this season. The Winter Drive last year was a tremendous success thanks to your incredibly generous donations. The Student Council organized a market where the matrons were invited to select an item for themselves and for each of their children. It was an opportunity for the students to actively participate in community service and to show their appreciation for the essential roles the matrons play. This year we would like to open the market up to our male workers as well such as our security guards, gardeners and maintenance workers.

We invite you to donate any clothes and winter necessities such as warm boots, blankets, gloves that you no longer need. It is important that the items you donate are in good condition, no stains, rips, broken zippers, etc. It would be very helpful if the donations were categorized according to age and gender. You also have the option to donate money which will be used to purchase clothes for the market if needed or it will be saved for future charity and community service events.

On Thursday 18th November we will have a school wide dress-down day in support of this initiative. For a donation of 20LE (or more if desired) your child may come to school out of uniform. Further information about how to make these donations will be communicated to students divisionally.

We look forward to providing our students with the opportunity to give back and show compassion and appreciation for those in need.
