Senior School Sports’ Day – 29th March 2016

Dear Parents,

El Alsson Senior School Sports Day will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Maadi on Tuesday, 29th March. This year’s Sports Day will combine both athletics and a football tournament and promises to be a fun-filled day for students. Please read through the following information to ensure your child is prepared for Sports Day.

Transportation

Buses to and from school will be arranged for students who will travel to school as they normally do.

Your child is permitted to travel to/from the Olympic Stadium by his/her own transportation. He/she must arrive by 8:40am. Please arrange to pick your child up at 1:30. No students will be permitted to leave early.

Attendance

All students are expected to attend Sports Day. Failure to attend will count as a school absence. Registration will be taken at 8:50 a.m. Any student arriving after 8:50 must sign in with the member of staff at the gate.

Food and Drinks

The school canteen will be present with hot and cold sandwiches and water for sale. Please ensure your child either brings a packed lunch and plenty of water or has money to purchase food/drink while there. Students will not be permitted to leave the stadium to make purchases from surrounding shops.

Health and Safety

Please ensure your child eats a healthy breakfast before coming to Sports Day. He/she should also drink plenty of water throughout the day, and avoid eating immediately before competing.

The school pediatrician, a nurse and first-aid trained staff will be on hand in the event of injury.

The emergency contact number while students are off campus is:  0106 902 7925. Please use this number to contact a school administrator only in the event of an emergency.

Appropriate Attire

In order to participate in any event, it is essential that students are dressed in appropriate attire for sporting. This includes:

  • Athletic shorts or track-pants (e.g. PE kit)
  • Trainers

Students are encouraged to wear a t-shirt in their house colour and we strongly recommended he/she bring a hat and sunscreen.

We are looking forward to an exciting and successful Sports Day and encourage all students to come out, participate and support their house team.

Should you have any questions, please contact the British or American office.

Sincerely,

The Senior School Leadership Team
