Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. This activity takes place at MUN conferences, which are organized locally in Cairo or abroad in a large number of cities.
To prepare for MUN conferences, students research individual countries, discuss issues relating to international relations; prepare written statements on current issues and practice public speaking and debating. During each conference, students then compete with students from Egypt or abroad to be recognized as an outstanding delegate.
MUN appeals to students who want to challenge themselves in the areas of public speaking or academic debate. It also provides opportunities to meet people from many different nations.
Upcoming conferences are announced at whole school assemblies and registration letters are made available on the school website.
